Biography

State Sen. Andy Zay has represented Indiana Senate District 17 since 2016, which includes all of Grant, Huntington and Wabash counties.

Zay is ranking member of the Senate Committee on Environmental Affairs. He also serves on the Senate Committees on Commerce and Technology; Pensions and Labor; and Utilities.

Zay is a graduate of Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs, and in May 2023, received a Master’s from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. He owns and operates Zay Leasing and Rentals, Inc. in Huntington, which was founded in 1953.

Outside of work, Zay served on and has supported the Regional Board of Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana for 20 years and is involved with local school and church development committees.

His hobbies include being outdoors, spending time with his family and enjoying his kids’ sporting events. He and his wife, Cindy, live in Huntington and have three sons, two daughters and four grandchildren.
