Biography
Domenic Martinello, MD, MBA is the new Chief Medical Officer for Lutheran Hospital. He is a board-certified physician with over 15 years of experience.
Dr. Martinello relocated to Fort Wayne from Las Vegas, Nevada, where he was the Chief Medical Officer for MountainView Hospital, a 425-bed tertiary referral and teaching hospital, overseeing 1600 medical staff members. With a strong focus on patient quality and safety, some of Dr. Martinello’s most notable achievements include Leapfrog ranking improvement, assistance with the creation of Nevada’s only Bone Marrow Transplant Center, and a 40% reduction in Hospital-Acquired Infections.
Prior to his tenure at MountainView Hospital, Dr. Martinello was the Chief Medical Officer at Southern Hills Hospital in Las Vegas, where he improved their quality rankings to the top in the division.
Dr. Martinello’s leadership experience began with his military service, where he was an Infantry Soldier in the Massachusetts Army National Guard. He later trained to be a Combat Medic in the Nevada Army National Guard.
Dr. Martinello attended college and Medical School at the University of Nevada, Reno, and while there served his local community as a paramedic.
After completing his Emergency Medicine residency at the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Martinello returned to his home state of Massachusetts, where he worked as an Emergency Medicine Physician at Anna Jaques Hospital. During his tenure there, Dr. Martinello performed in various leadership positions, including Chief of Emergency Medicine, Vice President of the Medical Staff, and EMS Medical Director. In addition, he was a partner with the Greater Newburyport Emergency Physicians. Dr. Martinello formalized his leadership expertise by obtaining his Master of Business Administration from UMass Amherst Isenberg School of Management.
Dr. Martinello is a pilot who enjoys flying, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with his wife and their rescue animals. He is also an avid Formula 1 fan.
