Biography

Born and raised in Fort Wayne Steve grew up in the Lafayette Place Addition on the south side of Fort Wayne. Following his college education Steve started his family with Anne Tudor and his business career in Banking in Indianapolis. In 1983 Steve moved back to Fort Wayne with Anne and their two children, Adrienne and Rachel.

Steve is the retired Chief Executive Officer and Treasurer of Allied Physicians, Inc, a multi-specialty medical group comprised of thirty four physicians and seven Ph.D.’s located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Seven professional Divisions make up Allied Physicians including Neurology, Neurosurgery, Physiatry, Neuropsychology, Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery, Colon Rectal Surgery and Ear-Nose-Throat Surgery.  Mr. Smith has been associated with Allied Physicians since 1990, retiring in 2019. Prior to that he served in the banking and finance industry. Mr. Smith concluded his twenty year banking career as Senior Vice President of Personal Banking, Shareholder Relations and Marketing at Lincoln National Bank, Fort Wayne. Smith was the founding Director and CEO of Fort Wayne Medical Surety Company, a medical malpractice insurance company insuring specialty physicians and their practices throughout Northeast Indiana.

In related business activities, Mr. Smith serves on the Boards of Tri-State Medical Group, a northeast Indiana independent practice association, Fort Wayne Medical Surety Company, a risk retention group captive malpractice insurance company, Medical Informatics Engineering, a computer software and services company, the Better Business Bureau of Northern Indiana and the United Way of Allen County and a variety of not for profit organizations in Allen County, Indiana. In government service Steve served on the Fort Wayne Plan Commission, the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Economic Development Commission.  Mr. Smith received a Bachelors of Science in Business at Indiana University as well as a Masters of Business Administration degree, also from Indiana University. He is a Certified Medical Practice Executive by the Medical Group Managers Association.

Mr. Smith and his wife Anne reside at Sylvan Lake in Indiana and in Fort Wayne. He enjoys the company of his two daughters, as well as four grandchildren and two great Grandchildren.
