You’ll apply as a nondegree student if you already have a bachelor’s degree but would like to enroll in undergraduate courses at IU Fort Wayne for any of these reasons:
- Personal enrichment
- To fulfill prerequisites for a graduate or professional program
Steps to apply
- Complete the application for undergraduate admission. In the section on your educational background, make sure to indicate that you currently have a bachelor’s degree. When asked to describe your academic plans and select your major/program, indicate whether you are taking courses for personal enrichment, to fulfill prerequisites for a graduate or professional program, or to earn teacher certification.
- Pay the application fee when you submit your application. If you earned your bachelor’s degree at an IU or Purdue campus, your application fee is waived.
- Provide a copy of your transcript from the school you that granted your bachelor’s degree. This transcript does not need to be official, and a printed copy from your school’s student information system is acceptable as long as it shows your first and last name, your final GPA, and the date your degree was conferred.

If you’re admitted to IU Fort Wayne, you’ll receive your offer of admission by email.

If you are currently pursuing your bachelor’s degree at another college or university and you want to take classes at IU Fort Wayne for a single term, you will apply as a visiting student. This includes students who are currently enrolled at a Purdue campus.
If you’re a student at another IU campus and you want to take classes at IU Fort Wayne for a single term, you’ll apply for a temporary intercampus transfer.
Admission requirements
To be eligible for admission to IU Fort Wayne as a visiting student, you must:
- Currently be pursuing a bachelor’s degree (enrolled within the last 12 months)
- Have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 on 4.0 scale. If you have attended another IU campus and have a cumulative GPA below 2.0 or were on academic probation or academically dismissed, you are not eligible to enroll as a visiting student.
Steps to apply
- Complete the application for undergraduate admission.
- Pay the application fee when you submit your application. Your application fee is waived if you have attended classes in a degree-seeking program at an IU or Purdue campus, have completed your associate degree at Ivy Tech Community College or Vincennes University, or are currently enrolled at Ivy Tech or Vincennes and have earned at least 45 credit hours.
- Provide a copy of your transcript from the school where you’re pursuing your bachelor’s degree. This transcript does not need to be official, and a printed copy from your school’s student information system is acceptable as long as it shows your first and last name, your final GPA, and the date your degree was conferred. We will also accept a copy of your most recent grade report.
