I Am Healthcare Lunchtime Engagements
Join us for monthly small group gatherings to include a meal, supportive staff, faculty, and local community members as we engage in dialogue, activities, and other events related to belonging, self-care, serving and leading as a person of color and other underrepresented people, academic success, intersections of health and wellness, and other topics identified by you. The goal of these gatherings is to build community and connections.
Please note: while these events have been created by and for underrepresented students, staff, and faculty of color, to truly build community and provide services to our entire community in culturally humble and relevant ways, it takes us all to value one another and our perspectives as we engage together.

Diane Shane Fruchtman Bio
Diane Shane Fruchtman is an Associate Professor of Religion at Rutgers University. She is a medievalist historian of Christianity focused on the history and legacy of martyrdom. Her research focuses on the ways that rhetoric and narrative construct reality for individuals and communities (both historically and in the present), and explores how attending to the thought-worlds of our sources can challenge simplistic accounts of human history. Her secondary area of research specialization is on inclusive pedagogy (specifically how medievalists can make classes more welcoming to and supportive of a wider range of students), and in her public-facing work she leads professional development sessions for educators on Religious Diversity and how to use Religious Studies methodologies to create more inclusive learning environments.
