The IUFW diagnostic medical sonography program is seeking individuals willing to be ‘practice patients’ for imaging students practicing their ultrasound skills in the on-campus sonography lab.
Ideal candidates are healthy individuals willing to be imaged for the purpose of ultrasound education. These sessions are for educational purposes only and serve no diagnostic or clinical purpose.
Candidates may have scans performed of the baby (for those who are pregnant). To maintain privacy, only the body part being examined will need to be uncovered during the practice session.
Session dates
Spring 2026: Volunteer sessions for abdomen exams will be held on Thursdays from 9am to 12pm. Volunteer sessions for OB exams will be held on Thursdays from 1:30pm to 4:30pm.
Pregnant model information
Pregnancy ultrasounds are only offered on Thursdays. Please allow 2.5 hours for your session. At the end of the session, you will receive a USB with all images and video recordings taken of your baby during the lab.
Ideal candidates are healthy individuals who have a normal body mass index, are between 18-35 weeks, and have already had their anatomical scan through their physician’s office.
